Villsenah Sylvaner Scheurebe

2015; Reduced acidity = Welcome. Please see my past notes on this vintage. I had hoped to hold this longer, but it was too darn delicious, the last bottle on vintage.
Paired to za'tar chicken topped with a salad of lemon zest, lemon juice, chopped parsley and toasted/chopped walnuts, perfect. 91-92
Decanted 5H.

Nose has dry grass, lime peel, green apple slice with light wax & petrol aromas.

Palate has shredded green apple, under-ripe peach, warm lime slice, light green herbs, dry sandstone with a mildly tart finish.

Decanted 3H. Seems to be in a holding pattern on present development, compared to our last bottle about 3Y ago.

80% Sylvaner / 20% Scheurebe

Super high toned and ripe nose. Herbals, fresh vegetables, some vineyard peach, gorgeous minerality. Palate is so so complex and finely detailed. Elegant and juicy with almost no fruit. Which is a good thing. So complete. Elegant and beautiful wine. Will surely open with air.

80% Sylvaner / 20% Scheurebe

Nose has crazy amounts of green fruits-herbs on the nose, minerals, mowing the lawn next to our flowering black currants.
Palate needs a few more years to collelesce, mostly minerally yellow apple.
Will not open another bottle until at least 2023.

Grassy, mineral, waxy, light petrol aspects. Improving as it warms. Notes to be updated.

24hr Update: Very grassy and yellow stone fruit-ish, still picking up a beeswax like note, but wow the acidity is just so balanced and awesome. Yet I feel this is too young now, note to future self, revisit in 3-5 years.

Wow. 80% Sylvaner, 20% Schuerebe from best parts of Hoheleite. Kinky nose. The schue comes through. Complex and deep. Super crisp. A bit rich but terrific.

Really delicious. Great fruit. Smoky minerality. Very different in a hard to categorize kind of way bc I’ve never had a blend like this. A tabs tropical. Great acidity. Bought from Fass Selections
