Such a killer vintage for this. Nose is forest floor, raspberry, candied cherries, stunning levels of spice and wild flowers. So complete and wonderful effusive aromas. Really high toned nose and penetrates deep in the nostrils. The spice and florals get nuts after some air and it becomes enveloping. Palate is a bit behind the nose but it’s so juicy and clean with explosive mid season cherries and terrific tiny berry fruit intensity and a smack down of a finish that saturates the palate with just amazing and detailed cherry fruit. What a wine. So clear, vivid and balanced. Love the sweet cherry fruit, cut and energy of this. Just stunning. With air the mid palate fills in and wow is this just a stunner. Sick inner mouth aromas and such amazing clarity of fruit. Raspberry, cherry and even a hint of blueberry. So sweet and energetic. Long finish with minerals.

In a terrific place. Nose is an amalgam of spices, savory and sweet spices, gorgeous ripe late season cherries and just insane depth. Enveloping nose and wide wide open. Juicy and ripe wine that is teeming with energy and just crackling! Wow, this blows away my last bottle. So delicious and special. Amazing sweet fruit that lasts and last and lasts. Amazing purity. Stunning showing. As this opens my score might go higher.

Wow what a nose. Gorgeous colors Brambly red cherries. Raspberry, complex tree bark vintage. Insane minerality. Tons of acidity. So much energy and complexity. Incredibly juicy. Sappy and pure. Long. Such a cool climate wine. So long and awesome structure. Stunning.

Barrel sample. Gorgeous nose. Ripe and deep. Blueberry. Raspberry and black cherry. Floral. Violets and so aromatic and deep. Honeyed. So complex and hedonistic. So pure and so stunning. Complex and fresh. Startling purity and fruit. Some new wood but well integrated. Silky. sweet and decadent but also lifted and bright. Long and engaging finish. Salty even? Brilliant wine and value. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Long. Just a stunning wine. Maybe a 9.6.

Holy shit. This is incredible. The nose is Grand cru all the way. Just insane. Deep, penetrating red and black cherries. Stunning spice and clarity. Insane earth, also bright and damson. Wet earth and limestone. This is aromatic like nothing else. A rock star of a nose. 9.7 nose. I am blown away. I swear this smells like elite Vosne-Romanee. Just incredible. OMG that palate! Fresh, crunchy fruit and top notch, 1% finesse. This is so fresh, so juicy and so pure I’m in awe. This guy is a superstar. Amazing fruit skin complexity and just awesome purity. The nose keeps opening and getting deeper and deeper. It’s enchanting in a Tolkien type of way. Fleshy and ripe but also balanced by just wicked awesome acidity. This is a stunning wine. I’ll be back as it opens up.

Wow. Insane nose. JVDM is a star. A rock star. Huge and I mean huge violets and spice. Gorgeous mid season cherries. Floral, bright and so so much lift. Elegant, sweet and sour cherries and such purity and depth. Back note of violets. So lithe and elegant with such ridiculous purity. The German Prieure-Roch. So elegant, so complex. An ethereal Pinot and the finish has lovely spice.

Dynamite wine. Smells like VR. Violets, black cherries, wet moss, lipstick like intensify with the most clear fruit one can imagine. Baden 18 Pinot is siiiick. Gorgeous minerals. Just such a complete nose. Palate is super fresh and so complex. Very pure and very clean. Awesome freshness, acidity and structure. Long finish. Explosive. Super long. Man did Jürgen nail 2018. Balanced and so so pure. Insane complexity on the finish.

Now the 2016 Engersteinz. Lighter vintage but still very intense and red fruited nose. Mega red fruited. Cherries galore. So pure detailed and refined. Gorgeous mineral. Sickie interplay here between mineral and just gorgeous fruit. Tobacco, ash, mulch as well. Forest scents. Spice, clove, menthol. Keeps opening until it’s a perfume assault. The first 10 minutes of this wine is 0-60 mph. Holy shit. Elite Burgundy nose. Gevrey/Vosne. Wow, sick fruit, so fresh and pure. I mean the fruit quality on Jurgen’s wines is something special. It’s decidedly pure but also so singular. Which makes them so drinkable. They are Grand Cru all the way. What sweetness of fruit and texture. Awesome. Côte de Nuits elite village style wine. What a wine!
