Nose is floral and big cherry. Loads of minerality. Hint of wood. Not bad. Not great. Palate is ripe with nice freshness and delineation. Very pure and clean. Juicy and well integrated wispy tannins and good length. Very nice wine.

Sep 21st, 2019Nose is charred oak. Spices and dark cherries. Some tea as well. Some nice earth. Needs 15 mins for wood to integrate. Palate is fresh and nimble with a slight hint of bitter. Hope it goes away as it clips the finish. Weird snowing.

Aug 1st, 2019In a great place right now aromatically. Ripe nose of dark cherries, forest floor, mineral all of which is very high toned and expressive. Beautiful lifted aromas. Palate is juicy but maybe a skoche warm. Sleek and juicy. Nice not great. Was better younger. But not terrible.

Jul 26th, 2018Always such a great Pinot. 2014 is a bit closed now though. Nose has earthy, some lighter berries, some light cherry. Some spice as well. Palate is juicy and concentrated with nice freshness and balance and sneaky persistence. Fruit is dark with ample volume and sweetness. Decant for 2 hours. This will be updated as it airs.

Really well made German Pinot Great fruit. Good acidic balance. Hint of licorice. Lice licorice finish that lingers like a sweet kiss on the lips. Some tightness makes me want to wait 12 months for the next bottle. One of the top German Pinot producers. Young guys. Worth watching.

What is this? A Gevrey-Chambertin in Phalz, crazy? Dark cherries, light stemmy notes on nose and palate, spicy minerals, wow! Needs at least a few hours of decanting and it's totally alive, very clean finish, great acidity. I should have bought more...

1 person found it helpfulAug 5th, 2016This is just rocking out of the gates. Beautiful, fresh fruit on the nose with raspberry, cranberry, earth, mineral and flowers. Very aromatic out of the bottle. Incredible palate of just fresh, vibrant fruit, crunchy ripe acids and beautiful finesse and freshness. Lovely, ripe, elegant tannins and good length. Showing great now. This just needs to be popped and poured right out of the gates. Brilliant wine.
