German Merlot from Franken? Yes! And it’s genius. Nose is like 1950’s Pomerol. Plum, cocoa, raspberry spicecake. Earth and minerals galore. Spice and tobacco. So fine and refined. What a palate. Energy and barely sweet fruit and a tiny bit of opulence and such fine tannins. Juicy and so clean with much more earthy elements than fruit elements. Gorgeous long finish but I feel it’s holding back. Lovely note of herbals on the nose nose and that spice is so engaging. Now it’s filling out and has such great purity and the fruit is starting to show as the finish extends. What length and poise. Really wonderful.

Nose: savory. Violets. Lovely. Really penetrating.
Palate: so silky. Elegant sweet fruit. So delicious. Perfect kiss of bitterness. Not as mineral as the bottle I had at the estate. A terrific brightness. So clean. Delicious. Starting to get that mineral backbone 30 minutes in.
