Weingut Pircher
Eglisau Stadtberg Pinot Noir

Love this wine. Such an elegant and fresh version of Pinot. Nose is cranberry, cranberry bog, sour cherries, spice and minerals. Also roses and flowers. Just gorgeous. Just so pretty. Also herbal and alpine aromas. Palate is so pretty and elegant with gorgeous pure fruit and so wispy and ephemeral. If you’re coming here for extraction this wine is not for you. It’s an ethereal, pure and refreshing Pinot Noir and something Switzerland does better than anybody else. So fresh and engaging with cranberry, sour cherry fruit and gorgeous herbal and flowers on the finish. Exquisite balance and just delightful. What a sneaky and persistent finish. Let’s see how this opens and my score could go higher.

Another great Pinot I just got through @Lyle Fass. A small step down from the Selection Stadtberg, but still very fresh and excellent to drink while young. The nose and palette feel married, both with cranberry, tart cherry, some flowers, tar and slightly earthy forest floor. Touch of smoke. Quite focused with nice acidity and bitterness on the finish. Long with dried oregano and little tannins at the end. I love Swiss Pinot. Next time I’m in Zurich, I need to check out this winery.

Pale see through ruby color, some cherry cola - not a ton of aromatics or flavors on mid palate. Lacking extraction & stuffing. Very light bodied, but was hoping for more elegance & personality.
