Smokey, cocoa, black and red cherries and a beautiful stoniness. Wonderful florals as well. Leather as well. Juicy, bright and textured with terrific purity and freshness. Wow this is juicy and long. So so nimble. Excellent length. Really so complete. Lovely mid palate and just so elegant. This is best bottle yet.

What a wine. Best one get. Dynamite nose of mid to late season red and black cherries. Floral, cocoa dust. Huge stoney minerality. Palate is dazzlingly fresh and so so pure. Amazing texture and sweet fruit with super tiny berry intensity and awesome juiciness. Dazzling wine. So so fresh and flavorful with unreal depth. What a wine. Terrific inner mouth aromas.

Super wine. Nose of sweet minerals, juicy cherries, minerals and loads of complex soil tones. Palate is fresh as a daisy and superbly linear and so so fresh. Lots of explosive black and red cherry fruit. Fantastic balance and purity. Amazingly juicy with elegant tannins and insane purity. So long. A baby still but easy to drink.

This is 16 despite the label. Awesome nose. Big cherry fruit, some sweet oak, mint, soil tones, and just an amalgam of intense fruit. Really elegant and juicy with lithe silky tannins and such purity. Terrific structure and top notch finesse. Amazing purity and elegance. Long finish and very chewy. I think needs 3-4 years and/or a 3 hour decant. Terrific focus and freshness. Stunning balance. Awesome. Lovely stuff.

There is so much great Spätburgunder in Germany that I feel like I am committing a low key crime by importing it and drinking it. This is insanely great. It smells like Galeyrand. Stunning nose of white chocolate, red cherries, spice and an almost Fixin/Gevrey character. Wow. Sweet, silky and sappy with big structure but stunning purity. Sappy and such pure fruit. Wow. Such fruit presence and purity. Deep and cuts a swatch. Stunning. So long. This will be brilliant in 5-7 years.

The wine maker is Leon Gold the importer is Lyle Fass. A Pinot in a Riesling bottle. I know Lyle will not be happy this wine needs time to rest but I expect these 15’s to be robust. Very dark. Cherry nose touch Cardamon. In the glass flat out like a 1er Cru Burgundy. A German Gevrey Chambertin at 33% of the price quite spectacular. I hope I bought the 16. Boy this is really really good. Earthy in the glass but also 🍒 touch cinnamon and a spritz of Mexican lime. There is really no need to pay 100$ for Burgundy if you can get this. Wanne by the way means tub. So this is probably a warm well protected site with plenty of sun. I will visit this winery for sure.

Plummy Nose almost like Port. Very dark for a Pinot quite extracted. Dark fruit, blackberry, very dark cherries and plum. Spices; hint of allspice. Graphite. If Enderle & Moll is the Yin this is the Yang of German Pinot. Reminds me of a good Denis Mortet. Really well made. Needs to integrate a little more. Since this is the second very convincing vintage from GOLD I can now recommend this producer. A spectacular wine and serious buy for my cellar in future. Impressive. Great find by Lyle - who needs Burgundy?

Translucent deep ruby in color, very nice.

Nose is white chocolate confection, ripe cherry smashed on old leather and a light cinnamon-like spice aspect. We were experiencing some heat from the alcohol (11-14% ABV) in about the first hour, but disapated now.

Palate is over ripe (perhaps leaning towards fermented) raspberry, strawberry/cherry compote, a well structured wine with several years still needing to approach its potential. Quite Burgundian, smiling...this will likely be great tomorrow, so notes will be updated. Paired this with some local and beautiful pork chops along with likely the best tasting year for grilled corn from the farm right down the street, so sweet!

24hr Update: Bright acidity, red fruits flavors trending towards dehydrated cherry and plum, improved.

Fabulous, pure, balanced and compelling PN that just shines with a sense of place. I love that Lyle Fass shows up as the producer rather than importer, but hell, give the dude some credit. Opened too soon after arrival. But could not resist. Glad I didn’t.

Nice nose, with ripe, dark cherry, a touch of dark chocolate, some (nice) wood influence.
On the palate this has nice presence. Lively purity of fruit, good depth, great interplay of sweet & savoury, nice tannin frame.
This is more a muscular & luscious PN but after 4h of decant - very nice!
Probably needs more time, so zu won’t open the next bottle for the another 5y.
