Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Kabinett Riesling

Brilliant and deep. No formal notes.

Nose starts out so quiet. Some light peach and minerality. Now it’s opening and we are getting some nice peach juice, vulcanized rubber, minerals and some confectionary notes. A deep honey note now and also some intense minerals. Smells round. Smells so pure and so fresh. Wow great acids and freshness. Man this is awesome! Impossibly complex and so much honey, peach, lime and driving mineral force. Unreal intensity and a step above the other two Piesport Kabi’s in 2023. The finish is so so salty and endless. This is super elite. Unreal complexity and intensity and what a finish that never ends. This also has excessive crushed rock minerality. Wow. Insane!!!

Gorgeous nose. Fully fruited. Exotic. Pineapple, melon, guava, green apple but very ripe green apple, and a massive dose of slate. Really vivid and complex. Classic Goldtropfchen. Very complex and wonderful high acid and very tense. So lean and linear and wow the precision is off the charts. Gorgeous wine. Terrific mouthfeel and sharp angles. Acid is not 21 but it’s not 20 either. It’s very good and energetic. Very round and super precise. The nose leads you to believe it will be much fruitier than it is. It’s fruity, don’t get me wrong but it’s all presented on a silk string and not a thick rope. Very elegant. Really tense and nervy. Grippy and structured and finishes with a terrific blast of fruit then a mineral wash. Exotic yet restrained and the fruit on the palate is pineapple, guava and a faint hint of mango with some blood orange and apricot. Love the vulcanized rubber (fresh tire) on the nose. As it airs the minerality gets more intense and the fruit starts a supporting role. Really pretty. The delineation on the finish is remarkable. Now after 4 hours of air the nose is more harmonious. That rubber is so killer. Peach skin. Palate is more dry and more mineral now and also has more grip. Dense and concentrated. Really sick. 9.5 to 9.6. What a finish.

Nose is subdued at first, but then opens to a range of lemon, lime, white flowers, rock dust. Palate a wonderful vibrant lemon and lime; lots of slate minerality; the acid is quite unique. Very present, and almost has a tannin like quality. I think once the acid integrates over the years it will be something even more special. A great value.

Really excellent. Perfect balance of fruit, intense acid and minerality, and sweetness. Absolutely delicious.
