1782 Klingelberger Riesling

What a glorious vintage of this wine. Nose is rich and floral but also has a dense shape that you can really smell. Like a trapezoid. Unreal minerals, some hints of weird citrus like tangelo, kumquat, pink grapefruit but also melon, spice, and so much more. Insanely complex. Stunning! 9.7 nose. Palate is just instant devastation. Rich, juicy and bursting with citrus and apricot fruit and so so pure. Unreal salinity, sapidity and density. Coats the palate. So long and satin-like texture. Unreal fruit here and there is a ripe sweetness here that is very uncommon for this wine but takes it to the next level. Genius!

So sleek and refined and mega floral and long. No formal notes.

Outrageous. Nose is all wet stones and wet earth with classic Laible florals. Insane stone fruits and so vivid. Nose is screaming. Juicy and clean with terrific freshness and purity. Scary elegant and long. Just incredible. Air will only help.

Woozy from dental anesthesia but still out to dinner. Nose is tropical and floral. Can’t get much more. Palate is ripe and luscious and I chose this vintage as lower acid than normal but still has all the classic Laibleness. Juicy and long. So pure and floral.

Yowza! Brilliant! Sick sick nose. Massively floral, herbal, sugar snap peas, wet stones, lavender, just insane. So deep, so layered. 9.7 nose. Just incredible. I don’t think 18 will ever shut down. Wow, so structured, yet super ethereal and endlessly complex. Like a cloud. Incredible mineral drive. This is showing out of its mind. Genius to the highest degree. Coriander and anise with air. Stunning. Excited to see how this develops.

Huge nose. Floral. Sickly floral. High toned peach skin. Suntan lotion. White flowers. Even lavender. Even violets. Wow. Kumquat. Sick elegance. A 9.7 nose. Woodsmoke. So so good. Ridiculous nose. Palate is dense and chewy, really opulent but also super chiseled snd pure. No hard edges. Unreal concentration. Loads of citrus fruit and so caressing. Just sick. Amazing purity. Salty. Long long long. Structure to burn and just sicko ripeness but so so delicate. And wow the length is bananas. Gets to every nook and cranny and juices your mouth. Wow.

Always one of my favorite wines.

N: white flowers. Lemon floor polish.

P: massively mineral. Crunchy minerality. Lemon. A touch of sweet lemon. Long. Penetrating.

I just love this wine. Great on pop and pour but it’s approaching profound after 45 minutes.

Nose: lemon. White flowers. Finely powdered minerals. A sexy roundness.

Palate: such bright acidity. Perfect lemon. So mineral. Good depth.

Settled in. The exuberant Riesling fruit settled down. I am not sure. Preferred this wine when young. More later. Grown on granite in Durbach a little village on the slope of the black forest. Stonefruit, hint peach, lemon.

Nose: white flowers. Elegantly rich.

Palate: stone fruits. So bright. Sweet Minerals. Delicious.

So so long and grippy and juicy.
