1999 vintage. Tasted alongside the 1998 and on the label we noticed this is almost perfectly split percentages between merlot, sangiovese and cab franc. More red fruits and vegetal notes on the nose, but a smoother and silkier mouthfeel on the palate. Slightly better than the 1998, and paired better with the steaks we had.

Aug 28th, 2015Plenty of sediment in this 1998, which is strange considering the 1999 we tried it against had almost none. This blend is merlot dominate with sangiovese and cabernet franc. Took awhile to open up but once it did the nose was all kinds of earth, forest floor and sage and brown mushrooms with cardamom and vegetal goodness. The palate confirms and went really well with the mushroom side we enjoyed.
