An intoxicating nose of dark cherry. Smooth and silky on the palate with dark cherry, rhubarb, and cranberry. The acid builds through the finish. Lovely.

Very rich for a pinot, but much in the style for hotter RRV pinots. Except for the heady berry-ness, smells like an exceptionally lithe merlot. Cocoa, tobacco, and coriander notes topped with cherry stems. Muscular, and will easily stare down a lamb shank.

This is the bottle that sold me on VML pinots. Sadly, this was my last 2012. Such an incredible wine, and I feel like each successive bottle was better than the one before it. Now they are gone.

Mar 12th, 2017This stuff is exceptional. The oak influence on the 2012 is a bit more striking than the 2013, but the acidity is more vibrant in the 2012 and the whole thing feels better put together. The delicately silky mouthfeel is also a major highlight. So so good.

May 9th, 2016This is an excellent expression. Dark and brooding nose with herb de provence edges. On the palate, a silky smooth entry with polychromatic fruit and toasty herbs. I expect the finish to continue until tomorrow afternoon.
