Vineyard 29
Cru Series The Essentials Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Solid second wine of Vineyard 29. Very dark purple color. Lots of liquorice and tabacco leaves at the beginning. Followed by vanilla, black berry, blueberry, creme de cassis. Super dry on the palate, lots of dark roasted coffee on the finish. Good structure, but the tannin is a little bit bitter and too dry. Maybe it's over extracted or the grapes come from the younger vines. Nice wine overall, but needs long time decanting. 14.7% alc. 2013 vintage

Nov 24th, 2016Grapey and light purple tasting. Nose of fresh steaming pasta. Works well with spiciness in foods.

Oct 4th, 2016A very contemporary example. A fruit-forward perfume of maple syrup and dark cherries.
Palette is consistent, with integrated tannins. Finishes luscious and sweet. A submerged 14.7% abv creeps up on you. Score is from wifey. I was in the 91 pt zone.

Enjoying the 2013 CRU by Vineyard 29. Much better than the '12. Dark juicy fruit with tobacco. This was decanted about 90 minutes, but tannins aren't too bad.

May 21st, 2016Always one of the best Napa Cabernet values, the 2013 CRU by Vineyard 29 far surpasses the 2012 and at $60 is worth seeking out. Such a wonderfully expressive wine. I'm a big fan of chocolate and coffee notes, and this wine has got it going on. Very approachable already, with some silky tannins that'll make this wine last a few years too

Nov 24th, 2015What a nice treat this was! A little dry, medium bodied, and just an elegant Cab.
