Pop and pour Gran Reserva in the perfect place. It wears the 26 months in French barrique very well with flavors of coffee grounds and dark chocolate well integrated with notes of sun drenched berries and earth. There is a special minerality to this. Ample acidity and exquisite fine-grained tannin. Really well balanced given the 14.5% abv. and absolutely delicious. This is ready to go on it’s own or with some rabbit ragu.

Dec 24th, 20212024/8. This is classically styled in a broad sense, though it did age in French as opposed to American oak. It is indeed a bit darker-fruited, toastier and more brooding as a result, despite the 13 years of age. It also wasn’t the best choice for a hot summer night, but it was still enjoyable, and would probably be even more my speed with another 5-10 years
