Wanted to try the '08 as not a flagship year but such a consistent & value driven producer. All smoothed edges & suave fruit. Feels like drinking window is now. Perfect pre Cantabria Seleccion Privada '96 foil as well.

Tons of rich dark fruits and some sweet tea, and even a floral note. Resolved tannins over the last few years are supple and elegant.

Ripe vintage, very extracted with both french and american oak.

A little on the bitter side with pomegranate, blackberry, a jammy, thicker texture. Ripe and polished tannins. A touch feral and green, but could just be an off bottle, though 2008 was a vintage that had its share of poor weather.

Really fruity for rioja. Still lots of elegance. Great stuff.

Rich black fruit with balsamic notes, black olive along with that herbal smell from saucisson rolled in mountain herbs, also touches of graphite, has real depth, quite savoury with forest floor & floral notes as well as baked blueberry pie also coming through. Not so exciting in the mouth as far too young and very disjointed but there is plenty of ripe black fruit, powdery tannins, really quite rich style that should age well. Let this one lie for 5 or 10 years.

Very #tempranillo led, crunchy red fruit (cranberry, redc) and strawberry, cedar oak, graphitey, light vanilla. Light jamon meaty notes coming through, lil bit of sous bois notes. Hint of Rose. More elegant style, more acid than grip, but still unresolved and will be better with a few hours decanting or in bottle. Bitter red fruit (cranberry, pomegranate) with some sour cherry notes. Finish of cedar, vanilla and spice. Not a big softie yet, but very elegant and complex
