Vina Olabarri
Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend
Maroon with slight bricking though out. It's getting there. A balanced combo of ripe black fruit, plum, fig, and cherry, backing an oaky spiced black licorice nose with a hint of menthol. Even a hint of brown sugar. True medium body with mildly dry tannins. Prune, blackberry, black cherry, and vanilla with a hint of espresso. Great mouth feel but a bit of a sharp chewy finish that carries. I'll probably cellar 2 or 3 bottles that I think will continue to drink well over the next 3 maybe up to 7 yrs. 90

Jan 30th, 2015Nose of leather, star anise, dill, and black cherry fruit. Dark raspberry fruit, forest floor on the palate, with bright acidity and persisting tannin. This has many more years in it but drinks well now with a short decant.

Dec 4th, 2017Good Gran Reserva. Mulling spices, cocoa, sour cherry (maybe too much). Tannins present but not overpowering. Not the best I've ever had but great for $25.
