This was served during my annual WWC hosting. Typical format of sparkler, three whites, four reds, one dessert, all served blind.

Marcel Deiss’s son is the winemaker. 50 Pinot Gris/40 Gewurtztraminer/ 10 Riesling. 100% whole cluster pressed for the Riesling and Gewurtztraminer, partially de-stemmed Pinot Gris. Macerated for 9 months in different amphorae.

I don’t know how you attach a score to this. Undoubtedly an orange wine, which I normally don’t drink. In color, it’s almost a pink tinge of orange. Aromatically, this could be Alsatian Muscat. Incredibly floral with a perception of sweetness. Strawberries romanoff, kiwi, orange blossom up front but the fruit fades to a more mineral/less sweet profile with great acidity. Very unique and worth seeking out more.

I can’t find any information about how this particular wine was made and im curious because this was one the best and most unique wines I’ve had in a while. Really fing good. I’ve had several of his other offerings which are great, but this was a big step up. I know from my shop over that this is biodynamic or at least trending that way and got some extended skin contact. Gorgeous.

Wow! What an incredible find! Amazing blend of Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer (which I’ve never had before). Earthy, expressive, and incredibly aromatic. No need to pair, fantastic on its own.

En mag. Better than I remember. Normalized with depth and a bit of lift. Brown palate.

Dark orange-bronze, oxidative, orange peel, astringent black tea tannins, this feels over the hill and not as fresh as a bottle last year (somewhat surprising given glass closure)
