Vietti
Derthona Colli Tortonesi Timorasso
Vietti's 2021 Timorasso is gorgeous. The first vintages here were decidedly rustic, but the 2021 shows an added level of textural finesse that is especially apparent in its contours. Hints of lemon peel, white flowers, mint and chamomile all grace this layered, super expressive white. The 2021 was fermented mostly in ceramic and steel, with just one lot done in wood. I have never been the biggest fan of the Vietti Timorasso, but the 2021 might make me change my mind. It's a gorgeous wine in every way. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2024)

Update Day 2: I really liked this even more on day as everything grew on the below from day 1, the palate and the intensity all went up 2 notches! This exceeds the really good 2018 and should easily have the stuffing to age which is why this grape is getting so much attention in Barolo these days.
Day 1: I just tasted this last night, I got into a bottle and will see how it evolves over a few days. Preliminarily this is really good, better than the very good 2018 I last had at this stage, as it should be as it's a better vintage. The nose is med/med+, as this grape is typically more pronounced in flavor than aroma, where the flavors here are more med+. The coravin glass I had opened up nicely over 30 minutes, deepening with notes of apples and peach, a light background touch of honey and almonds, subtle and elegant minerality underpins it all. Med+ finish shows the texture this grape is know for in a med+ weight.

Good white but is it textbook? Too new to know for this grape in Piedmont. Loads of SO2 as @Cathy Corison noted, let this blow off in a decanter in the fridge for an hour or shake it before you pour it!

Mar 27th, 2022The 2019 Timorasso is powerful, layered and ample. Apricot, white flowers, almond, graphite and chamomile all grace this ample, textured Timorasso. Tropical and petrol notes grace the expansive finish. A bit of skin contact adds quite a texture. The 2019 is a big step up from the 2018. A big step. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2022)

Grippy and delicious long-finish Timorasso. Grapefruit pith, melon, white flowers, balanced acidity… just great.

Oct 11th, 2021honeydew & cantaloupe, pear & peach, quince & chamomile on the nose ~ palate leans more to citrus, creamy bruised stone fruits, saline & actual stoniness ~— but in short it can present a crazy grapefruit pith salt lick slam ~~~ just sayin’
