Ruby with fresh fruit aromas layering in floral and earthy spice scents, aged in 25% new oak. On the palate cherry flavors with spicy tobacco leaf notes, zesty in style. Fine tannins, great mouthfeel texture, lingering ending with and earthy character which you can almost taste the soil. Age worthy! Nice!

Tonight I had the taste for a Pinot Noir and decided to open the 2013 Varner Spring Ridge Vineyards Three Blocks Pinot Noir from the Santa Cruz Mountains.
The nose is very fruit forward with notes of cranberry, red raspberry, cherry, clove, lush vanilla, and dusty soil.
At first sip the tart expressive notes of cranberry, cherry, red raspberry, dried herbs, clove, cola, and rocky soil
The wine is a full bodied wine with medium+ acidity and medium chewy tannins. The fruit and dusty soil continues on in a long pleasing finish. Have a great week and stay positive. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🖒

Most Santa Cruz pinots I've had are light in color but pack a surprising amount of flavor as this one is. Pinot fruit is a bit more austere/held back; "underbrush" comes to mind. Enjoyable.
