Beautiful wine. Deep yellow gold. Floral with some petrol, musk, hay, a little barnyard, and the signature dried yellow flowers of aged Carricante. One of the unsung heroes of Etna Bianco for me.

Etna Bianco with some age! Brought back straight from the estate on our trip to Sicily two years ago. Closed down tight at first, this needs hours to show the very pretty aromas of apricot, wild flowers, yellow peach andriver stones. The palate is a bit subacid at first, but that’s offset by the minerals and incredible texture— almost oily but somehow ethereal. Dry, savory bready notes on the finish.

An interesting companion piece to Ruscum, as both show surprising tannic muscle and lees weight. Attractively smoky, and the fruit, while present, is secondary to the complexity of this wine. This requires some aeration to really strut, perhaps a function of the long lees-aging. Provides gravitas to a simple preparation of spaghetti bottarga.

Bright gold color. Pears, lemon and honeysuckle, lee influence, some oxidative nutty notes and smokiness . Great acidity and a long finish. I like a it quite a bit, though I would prefer a more focused version not aged on lees.

Sulfur blast upon opening is discouraging, but-give it a merciless splash into a decanter, and you will be VERY happy!

Dark purple color. Light spice underneath. Dark fruits. Med + tannins. Very light smokiness. Well balanced.
