Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese
Vintage 2010 / Way too young! I opened it on thursday evening and now half bottle (with pulltex anti oxydation stop) is showing a bit of its qualities. Half transparant with a rim of Italian tiles brown. Very classic smell with cedar, impression of chocolate. Flint. Mushrooms. Alive and kicking taste with red fruit, good acidity. Vibrant. How will this #brunellodimontalcino perform in future. I think i will not open a bottle in the next 3 to 5 years. Paired with Dutch Boerenkoolstamppot (cabbage with smashed potatoes) and Ezeltje (beef).

Dec 16th, 2018Ruby-tile dress. Superbly evolved nose. Black cherries, tobacco, chocolate, balsamic and many nuances evoking the field of vegetable notes (tomatoes, herbs, celery) as well as spices, or dried fruits. Tiered breeding level, quite complex that finds its fullness with the guard. Classy!

Cerises noires, tabac, chocolat, balsamique et de nombreuses nuances évoquants autant le champ des notes végétales (tomates, herbes, céleris) que les épices, ou les fruits secs. Niveau d’élevage étagé, assez complexe qui trouve sa plénitude avec la garde. Classe!

Absolutely loved this Reserva Brunello di Montalcino. Tannic yet very smooth at the same time. Medium body. Best after decanting for about 2-3 hours.

From this great vintage you expect great wine! And a GREAT wine this is. A golden shine over the granate red transparant color. The nose after an hour still somewhat closed but already showing everything Brunello is about: roses, cocoa, butterscotch, leather etc. In the mouth well balanced and very powerfull. Finishes over the minute.
Lets see what it does on day 2.

Jan 23rd, 2017Cherry and spice on the nose. Almost white peppery. A bit bitter at fitst but gets better. Very woody tannind and a lot of oak. I think a long decant might help do this wine justice.
