Dark purple garnet in the glass. Nose of plum, molasses, and cocoa. Medium full body, medium tannins, medium acidity. Palate of juicy plum, cobbler crust, blackstrap molasses, hints, clove. Medium short finish. Still some time left, too. This is one of the eastern greats. Enjoyable as a "sipper" but especially with hearty foods. Another triumph by Anthony Vietri!

Deep red garnet in color. Big bosomy nose of red fruit and fig. Full mouthfeel. Balsamic cherries and red apple peel on the palate. Medium plus acidity puts it squarely in the food-friendly column. Piemontese fare, American lamb, or a lighter cut of steak (veal perhaps). And all this right in my backyard!

Rare I give a wine such props, but Va La makes exquisite wines. Blend of malvasia nero, barbera, sagrantino, carmine, lagrein, charbono, teroldego, petit verdot. Deep rich mahogany color with a slight burnished copper edge. Oozing notes of black cherry, juicy blackberry, soft tobacco, forest floor, and a hint of racy leather and rubber tires. This is one to savor slowly while sitting by a fire on a cold winter's night. Drinkable now but can easily cellar for years and it will only get better.

2008 from Va La in Pennsylvania. If you think PA wine is a joke -- the joke is on you. Get yourself some of this and have your mind blown.

Va La Vineyards Mahogany 2011: Elegant tannins. Rich complex flavors. Velvety texture. Dark fruits. Mushrooms. Cedar. Leather. Earth. A beautiful, ultra small production red blend consisting of 8 varietals that will simply blow your mind away: Barbera, Malvasia Nero, Charbono, Petit Verdot, Carmine, Teroldego, Lagrein & Sagrantino. All in all, this is the real deal; a definite must-try if you want to experience the best red wine/winery in Pennsylvania. Watch out Napa, here is a legitimate competitor! Cheers🍷

Rustic on the nose - blackberries, dark fruits, mushrooms, and earth with some vanilla and dark chocolate. Precise and velvety on the palate.

Pine needles, cedar, green pepper and dark cherry on the nose. Great mouth feel, well balanced. Medium finish. Very nice effort Anthony.
