Hasty decision to uncork this reveals obvious infanticide. Tight, reductive, un-integrated oak the first day. After a day in the wine fridge it’s starting to come alive. That #moonmountaindistrict fruit starts unfurling with black/purple berry preserve nose, subtle baking spices, kola nut, cocoa powder. Lush acidity on palate, chewy tannins that compile on the palate, coasting finish. I’d love to see this wine evolve at 5 years and 10.

Upper bench block three red wine blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is Young period And by Young I mean really really young. I felt like I was picking splinters from the Oak Barrel out of my teeth. The bones of this wine are very solid. It is a 2015 release, and pretty much tastes like a barrel sample. The fruit is here, a little bit thin, but I have a feeling that with two to three years of age this one is going to condense down very nicely. I enjoyed this bottle, mainly because it belonged to somebody else. I don't think this one was ready to go yet. Not a bad after work wine!
