Star of the vertical was this 06, again hailing from the Hayne Vineyard. Potent and rich, blackberries, licorice and five spice. Huckleberry, cassis and smoked meat round out the finish.

Exquisite bottle coming from over 100 year old vineyard. Still ever bit as jammy, showing sings of flavors seen in ports. Heavy sedimentation, plum, leather, dark chocolate. Soft tannins, closing out with a smooth easy finish.

Ten years old with a bit of youthful vigor. Boysenberry and anise on the nose. Perfect balance and long meaty finish. Spice complexity really evident at the end. Awesome. Happy Easter.

2006. Some tar and grip but huge black and blue fruit with some great tartness and barnyard. Still very young. We killed a baby.

Shocked that I like this. 15.1 alc but holds it and at first blush doesn't taste hot. Not hugely interesting but that's not he point.

This is a better than average petit Syrah I liked it a lot actually . I am not sure when the other raters of the 2006 drank theirs but would live to try to other vintages that seem to be favored more. This one Went well with chicken schnitzel and after !
