We’re dining at Kesté NYC, so when in Rome… This is sweet, textured and layered. Nice subtle, restrained oak treatment. Cedar on the nose and palate. Tobacco and sage notes on the mid palate, sweet finish with ripe maraschino cherries. Tannins are softening. We caught this at the perfect time. Should decant this if you can…

After short decant I was thinking this could be the best Italian Syrah I’ve had. By the last taste this ranked among best anywhere. Rich, seamless. Balsamic and smoked meat, black fruit. 15+ years to go.

This Syrah didn’t show as I expected. Wifey and I tasted it at the winery in 2018, and it was singing. Having said that, still nice.
Brambly, dark fruits lead to moderate sweetness and robust tannins. I did decant it for a couple of hours, but yes, in this case maybe more bottle age is required.

We got busy last night. Quaffed some great wines. @Greg Ballington and India brought some great SA examples. Just a superb evening with good food and lots of laughter.

Tua Rita's 2015 Syrah Per Sempre offers notable textural richness and depth, with a thread of whole cluster aromatic nuance that is woven throughout a core of intense dark fruit. Savory and floral notes continue to emerge with time in the glass. Creamy, silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018)

Apr 12th, 2018Wow. A sumptuous perfume has filled the glass. Notes of flowers, jam compote with spice box and white pepper. This is a full-throttle Syrah, but built with charm and beauty. Elegant and feminine. Luscious black cherries, with a velvet mouthfeel. Finishes long and strong. The 2015 is currently being bottled, hence the modification to the date on the label. Outstanding - @ tua rita winery.

Jul 27th, 2017There is a kind of elegance to it that is so unlike a N Rhone. More mineral driven and subtle clean fruit. I’m curious if these gain weight with age.

May 9th, 2021Charcuterie and musty cheese envelop the nose. Yes. Makes you think great things are at hand. They are!!!! Deep blackberry and boysenberry hit the palate followed by some expresso and chocolate. Some earthy hints show too, as the longer 30+ seconds finish makes you want more. This still needs a few more years to get to its peak, but well worth the pop of the cork
