Brambly, forest floor, plums and organics on the nose. Loads of blackberry fruit and licorice flavors. A bit of a fruit bomb, but very drinkable. (And it did settle down after some aeration). Perfectly smooth with mild tannins.

Gifted a taste by a friend. Trying this immediately after the Chateau Montelena shows the differences between Calistoga and Oak Knoll, with this being more vegetal and "harder" on the nose. There's less sweetness and more of a ripe character, and that transfers onto the palate as well, with a juicy bell pepper and underripe raspberry quality showing forth. It's a beautiful wine made in a masculine cabernet style.

Came home from holiday party and pulled this. Cork was out before I realized I should have waited a bit longer. Surprisingly, this 08 Oak Knoll was very drinkable after 15 minutes, and luscious after 30 minutes. This could definitely have rested longer, but the 08 harvest was very well represented in this bottle. Evolving deep plum with a very subtle hint of spice.
