Feb 25th, 2022Gorgeous nose of sappy cherries. Mid season. Some cherry flower. Flowers. Really bright and sappy. Violets. Gorgeous depth and precision. Beautiful minerality. Really classy nose. Love the cooler side of Sangiovese seen in Emilia-Romagna. Palate is juicy, focused and ripe. Amazing purity and lovely velvety tannins. Lovely breadth. Really elegant and crunchy. Warm vintages in cooler regions are where it is at. Excellently succulent and so well made. Really just perfect balance and drinking so well now. Has the purity of a low sulfur wine but comes across as a normal wine. Really delicious and interesting.
After a few hours this has gotten insane. Gorgeous cherry tones. 50 shades of cherry it’s like. So expansive. So elegant and juicy. Awesome structure. Really good. Explosive and tiny berry fruit intensity. Long. Fantastic.

Simply awesome. Cool climate Sangiovese is where it is at and this is a superb example. It’s such a clean and precise wine. Mid season cherries, sour cherries, glorious cherry flower and spices. Nice soil tones as well. Mineral undertones as well. Licorice. Stunning aromas. After air it’s just an insane perfume. The palate is terrific. Juicy, pure and very linear, with wonderful sweet/sour cherry fruit, a hit of mid palate opulence and wonderful velvety, perfectly ripe tannins. Terrific freshness. Has the guts and structure for at least 10-12 years of aging and improving. Wonderful stuff.

Day one was closed even after a decant. So I stoppered it and waited for day 2. Smart move.
Nose is dusty cherry in a good way.
Palate is some of the best cleanest cherry fruit I’ve ever had in a wine. A hint of cherry licorice on the finish. Wow. Such a. Clean well made wine.
Vines are almost 100 years old.
From Emilia Romagna. A bit north of Tuscany so the wines are a bit less fruit Bomby. A bit more elegant. Good producers like these guys and costa archi are worthy seeking out.
