Power and balance and fun. Tormaresca makes fun but serious wines. Old meets new. Black cherries undercurrent of licorice and/or caraway. Smooth very well integrated tannins. Solid juice. Take that to mean what you will.

Luscious! Several people at our group dinner remarked how smooth it is. The flavors and tannin were all in line for a Primitivo too. Paired with lamb ragu.

Salento IGT 2012, 14.5%, from Primitivo grapes. Bottle tasted in October 2014.
This grape from southern Italy is genetically very similar to Zinfandel.
Robust but elegant, slightly sweet masculine and rich. Beautiful with meats and aged cheese, but perfect on its own too, at the end of a meal. I loved it!

Pretty decent, a little too acidic for me though. Also apparently Primitivo is the same/similar as Zinfandel? Don't know if that's true but I didn't notice a whole lot of similarity...
