TOR Kenward Family Wines
Cimarossa Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
#AgedWineTuesday
This 12 year old Napa Cabernet is drinking so very nicely now.
Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, earth, chocolates, cola, tobacco, coffee and peppercorn.
Full bodied rich, extracted and delicious.
Medium acidity with a long finish and soft tannins.
Dry on the palate and very fruity.
This Single Vineyard could age for another 10 years, but I really enjoyed it at this stage.
Wine spectator's 97 points.
Very enjoyable and yummy. Good by itself as a sipping wine.
A very small production of only 9 barrels.
14.9% alcohol by volume.
94 points.
$155 (current vintage).

Jan 31st, 2020Absolutely delicious, the 2014 is perfectly drinkable now. Great fruit, balanced with structure. Mellow tannins.

Aug 18th, 2019This is spicy and red fruit-driven with the slightest hint of camphor/menthol. Full-bodied with soft tannins, decent acid and quite a long finish. It’s wonderful. 1 hour decant.

Dec 9th, 2017Opened by accident (meant to grab the Napa Valley Blend). This needs some time to come together. Surprisingly lighter bodied than most of Tor Cabernets and a touch hot. That said, I️ can definitely see the potential here. Lots of black fruits, some cedar, vanilla and fine tannins.

Nov 3rd, 2017Definitely mountain fruit. Dark blue fruit, slight anise notes, plush texture, and some tannins grip on the finish. Not shy but very balanced.

Aug 25th, 2017TGIF!!! This was a perfect ending to a long week. Smiles all around as @Mike R would say. Dark and brooding, the nose gives off blueberries mostly. A touch sweet on the palate with blue fruits and baking spice. Silky tannins, and a great acidity. Tor remains one of my favorite go-to wines - consistently excellent.

Feb 4th, 2017Nice full bodied wine. Great tannin structure and long finish. A bit of bacon fat on the nose and rich ripe cassis on the palate. High alcohol content, but well enough integrated to not feel it.
