I still think this Sangiovese is underrated. Polished and suave, lighter ruby color with a touch of garnet. Ripe tannins right where I like them. Cherries, currant, blackberry all grow with time in the glass.

Oct 30th, 2023Outstanding Sangiovese! Black cherry and plum skin neatly wrapped in sexy oak. Incredible balance as the wine opens up to reveal toasty vanilla and black licorice. The tannin is what really thrills me. Not overly assertive but also not shy. Powdery texture that reaches every corner of the palate. Pleasant bitterness on the finish. Decant an hour and pair with wild boar ragu.

2022: bought in Florence directly from the maker: simply lovely bright and focused wine with bright fruit and just perfect tannins and acidity! Simply good!!

I’ve forgotten how reasonably priced wine is in Italian restaurants. Interesting that “Tommasi” is the producer, because the label says it was only bottled by Tommasi. Loved this. It was indeed elegant if a bit more fruity than I would have expected.
