Blackberry, black cherry, mint, dark chocolate, faint hints of cumin and pencil shavings on the nose. Notes of maraschino come out after some more swirling. Ripe red cherry, blackberry, hints of black pepper and cinnamon, a touch of tannin grip with prunes, kirsch, and cocoa lingering on a nice long finish. Medium bodied viscous red, not sweet but has a bit of a sweet quality… should be a great food wine that would go well with grilled red meat, tomato-based pasta, pizza, probably even some desserts like chocolate chip cookies. Very nice.

Easy drinking Mencia (100%) from 35-80 year old vines from the the steep, vertigo-inducing Sil River hillsides. Atlantic, mineral and somewhat salty, lots of red fruit and some balsamic notes.

Bright, pleasant aroma and mouthfeel. Paired surprisingly well with a seafood dish of grilled prawns with chorizo broth at a 5 course wine pairing dinner.
