It’s safe to say I’m slowly making my way through the South African 🇿🇦 wines that The Wine Gallery has on offer. I picked this Winery Of Good Hope 2017 Chenin Blanc for #thetcwineclub as SA Chenins are 👌👌
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s one of the countries stand out varieties and is also the most widely planted grape variety according to Wikipedia stats. This one comes from the Stellenbosch wine region which has been high on my wine travel bucket list for sometime now. And not just because of the wine either, do a Google Image search and you’ll see why 😉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the glass I found this SA Chenin a pale gold shade. Notes of honeyed lemons and pears rise from the glass with a whiff of camomile. It’s rather intense on the nose yet the palate is extremely refreshing and crisp with lemon citrus and crunchy apples 🍏
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #winesample

Ripe aromas with red apple, pear, pith and grapefruit.

Reductive.
When opens up nice lime and grapefruit notes.
Lightly sweet with balanced acidity.

Very enjoyable, particularly without food. Neutral; General fruit and a tad mineral.

Just acceptable. Out of balance lacks the fruit structure.
