Nose of cedar, raspberry and pine. On the palate is typical Mt. Veeder, bright and tart with pine forest notes. Chewy tannins in the finish. The acid is a bit muted at first but lingers nicely. Tight and compact, with a mineral backbone.

Nov 22nd, 20172012 vintage opened February 2017. Mineral bouquet. Slightly astringent on the front of the mouth. Just a little bit of fruit -- plums and dried apricots on the front. This would otherwise be a boring wine, except that the tannins have a nice balance between pucker and smoothness -- from the front of the palate to the back of the palate. This wine has such a full body, that I think it will age very well. However, The lack of strong fruit components makes this less than a super excellent wine. It's just a very good wine.
