Monthly WTF wine group. Special event this month as Ben provided all ‘80s Napa cabs. A few of us chipped in and provided some whites/bubbly.

Tied for wine of the flight. The fruit here was much more dense and full. Acidity wasn’t as in tact as the Pine Ridge, but what a flavor packed finish of black cherry, strawberry and clay.

Well done! Cedar and spice box aromatics are gentle and evolved with stewed dark berries and vanilla scented oak. Medium bodied, rounded off tannins allows the mature fruit flavors to take centre stage. It's slighty hot on the finish, but otherwise very pretty.

Hard to believe how well this is drinking after 21+ years. Obviously on its downslope, but the balance, depth of flavor, and persistence was really surprising. Easily one of the 1999 Napa cabs that was built to last. If you still have one of these in your cellar, do yourself a favor and enjoy!

Not a Napa fan, but this was aged enough that I didn’t feel the oaky aftertaste you get with Napa reds as much

First glass has some blue cheese on it and a little funk. Took a half hour to blown off and then it was creamy and old. Faded fast in the glass and was undrinkable by the second half of the bottle

Smooth and easy to drink. A lot of sediment for some reason...and cork broke

Has aged very well and exhibits softness and elegance at this stage - no tannins or backbone. Subtle red fruit w no earthiness or grit. Pretty and pleasant for a night with great friends!

Still very bright and fresh for a wine from 1986.
