Dark Crimson in colour. Raspberry and earthy notes on nose. On the palate raspberry, red currant and savoury flavours. This Barossa GSM packs a lot of flavour into a medium weight wine. Excellent intensity and persistence from a good vintage in South Australia. Quite delicious and punching above its weight for a Tuesday night wine.

Came to this after a couple of hours decanting. Black fruited, spice, earthy, oaky, nice savoury finish with fine drying tannin. Less ’grenachy’ than I remember, perhaps the air brought out the Shiraz/Mataro flavours. Delicious.

Raspberry notes. On palate smooth with medium intensity tannins. Excellent QPR. The 2015 vintage was just very highly rated in James Halliday annual awards at 98 points.

Can totally see this as the big brother to Joshua. Great intro here by Kym Teusner himself http://youtu.be/jI0aMEgTH9w , worth a watch. Savoury, spice, complexity, can see everything avatar has that Joshua doesn't. So I guess that is largely due to the oak? Much more my type of wine.

For drinking now prefer the Joshua to Avatar, however; the latter will go further and develop with time, hopefully shedding some its oak baby fat.

Always one of my favorites and the 2012 is a cracker. Still maybe not at its peak but so smooth and rich with the meaty Mataro shining. So much vibrant fruit and spice.

Berry fruit, well balanced, reasonably big for a GSM. Nice finish.
