Terroir
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Purple in color with a wide purplish rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Showing black and red fruits with light oak, spices, chocolates, coffee, red candy, licorice and light tobacco.
As it opens up, red fruits takeover the nose and palate.
A nice wine, but not what I expected from a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. It does not show any Napa Valley Cabernet characteristics. Feels more like a big wine, with a California Pinot Noir touch.
Easy drinking and good for parties.
A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc. Aged in French oak barrels (35% new) for 24 months.
14.7% alcohol by volume.
88 points.
$35.

Very nice cab. The 2012 integrates nicely. Still a lot of vanilla, but mellowed out relative to the 2014 we initially discovered. Also my first taste after end of my traditional dry month. It's good to be back. Rating affirmed after giving it a bit of time to open up.

Feb 4th, 2017There's something going on here. Black cherries add to the classic black cassis flavors, a whiff of sage

Jul 16th, 2014Developed and interesting. Called it 10 year old Rioja blind. Seems like a fair amount of American oak but I'm likely wrong

Oct 22nd, 2020Did not disappoint. Raspberry cherry nose pretty dry and bright . Licorice and plum on the palate. Gripping yet very well integrated tannins and legs long like a day in June. Will purchase again.
