Nicely aged but not too old. Eucalyptus, dried black fruit. Excellent!!!

Still tight. Need to open ahead or decant. Aromas of cedar and graphite. Strong red fruit. Delicious with good finish.

Disclosure: I'm very long this wine, vintages from '01. And fearful of investment. Great reviews and initial taste in Italy, but disappointed since vs. high price. Last night, after an hour decant (and blow off of initial barnyard stink) this Oreno was singing. Unmistakably Italian cherry and smokey tobacco. Bordeaux sensibility on the palate, great concentration and sense of power. Plummy, shroomy and cedary. Up there with best Super-Ts in good years! 😅

This 2003 Oreno from Sette Ponti is simply outstanding. Lush fruit with crushed velvet tannins this wine delivers powerful Tuscan flavors and could go on for days on the finish. Drinking excellent now, this wine will continue to be at its peak for a few more years at least.
