Tenuta Di Castellaro
Bianco Pomice Sicilia IGT White Blend

I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I do, for some reason. Anyway, this is excellent. Very fragrant (with air), showing intense sweet hay, meadow flowers, ginger ale notes, crisp pear, and crushed stone. Intense in the mouth too, but with a weightlessness that is very appealing. Long, minerally, bone dry finish with an almost Muscadet-like quinine thing at the end.

One of my favorite experiences in drinking will always be the sense of mystery that some wines possess. This unusual blend of Malvasia di Lipari and Carricante somehow transcends both grapes, with a synthesis that yields a unique character - marzipan, chamomile, Meyer lemon and candle wax layered over a wet cement minerality that lingers, vibrating with energy in the finish. The volcano speaks. Aging beautifully, but sadly this is my last bottle.

I was ready to be skeptical about this because I generally am that way with Italian whites, but this is damn good. Nose has lots of fragrant stony minerality, fresh pear-like fruit, and a light herbal, slightly resinous note. Fresh, but with nice concentration and a long, very pure finish. Pretty nice!

First glass went down a little quick... Southern Rhone like volume but a lot more verve.

It is transparent beautiful lemon yellow color. The first scents of rum, a barrel, Chinese quince changes to the second scents of a mango, the ripe pineapple, glycerol and honey gradually, at last the scent to yellow sweet flower is added.
Charm light sweetness, vivid fresh acid, comfort minerals. Middle rich taste. I enjoyed it!
