Unfortunately, the bottle tasted like it had seen some hotter-than-ideal storage at some point in its life. Lots of stuffing, probably a great wine, but N/A on the rating.

This 1988 Ornellaia still shows an intoxicating nose of violet, sandalwood and spice; on the palate there is soft and generous ripe fruit (dark plum, black raspberry), with a hint of herbs and licorice; still gorgeous although not as powerful and primary as it once was; notes of sweet tobacco and bittersweet chocolate lace the very fine tannins through a long finish. I judge this to be slightly past its prime compared to my notes for previous bottles from the case. 93/100 on 7/7/2018. Too bad Delectable doesn't allow us to accompany tasting notes with a photo.
