Deep Ruby with aromas of red and black fruits with herb, spice and earthy floral notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and currants with tobacco and pepper spice. Fine lively tannins, medium finish, ending with fruit and earthy herb character.

Dark glass-clinging garnet purple. Blueberry, black raspberry, and leather on the abundant nose and full-bodied, rustic palate. Fine medium plus tannins and high juicy acidity round out this classically Old World red from S Italy. Pizza Margherita is a natural, of course, but Osso Bucco, tomato heavy beef dishes, and Mediterranean fare (maybe even Cassoulet?) will shine as well. Drink now through 2026 or so.

Located in the heart of the production area of the Aglianico del Vulture, founded in 1990 by the D’Angelo family. Aged for 18 months in oak, aromas of berry fruits and complex scents. On the palate flavors of fresh dark berry, pepper and earthy spice. Soft tannins with medium+ finish ending with a mineral character and earthy tones.

Drinks like Italian Vacqeyras. Leaner but with more muscle; with lingering minerality, and smoky roasted fruit and herbs.

Beautiful feminine expression of aglianico, nose is full of that sweet basil i love, backed by scorched earth violets and plum jam. Ripe and exotic, silky and savory old school pure palate with no discernable wood. Fantastic at $35. 2009 vintage.

My father-in-law's pick for pairing with venison stroganoff last night. Nice licorice note.

On the lighter side of Aglianico but similar profile. Smoked gamey meats- think speck. But also a lot of dark berry and hidden tannins. You feel them after the fact. Solid wine

One of the more interesting wines I have had in some time. Smoky game meats, fresh mint. Would pair perfectly with lamb carpaccio, which unfortunately I’m not eating presently. On its own, or with lighter fare, it’s a bit strong.

Fantastic! Nothing like aglianico grown in volcanic soil! Deep leather nose, with bold, licorice and tobaccco notes. On par with any big cab, if not superior.
