Lanzaga Rioja Tempranillo

The Premier Cru designation of the Companio Elciego village.
Aged 13-14 months half in some new oak barrique and some seasoned, the other other half in foudre. Tobacco, raspberry and blackberry, powerful fresh and elegant, this shows more exhuberant and fresh with racy acidity. Minerality and depth combine for a mid-term drinking Reserva styled Rioja.
Grenache 8% Tempranillo 92%.

Quite fruit forward Rioja, but as such a very nice one.

Big dry red, high tannin. But savoury.

A nice go-to bottle of Rioja. Brings me back to our days in Haro last month. Undertones of wood and earth. Clove. Touch of menthol or maybe it's just a little dirty...

Telmo's vineyards are found outside the village of Lanciego in Rioja Alavesa -- Biodynamically Farmed Estate Fruit, Native Yeast & a 14 Month Maturation Period; Modern, Structured Rioja...Notes of Tobacco Leaf, Black Raspberry, Morello Cherry

Powerful stuff, cassis, tobacco, iron, earthy tones of minerality and forest floor. Big, ripe tannins though fairly balanced, would have guessed Bordeaux blind. Needs about 10 years IMO.

It's fine it's a bit tannic and oaky but good under
