The wine was a dark red with brown edges. Aromas of sweet cherry with spice, honey and nutty nuances. The palate is smooth with a molasses character, warm yet vibrant ending with some spice and oak. Lingers nicely. Tasting Sample.

Very unique for me, almost spirits like in its elegant weight. A very complex nose and palate vie for the tasters attention. Impressively long and intense finish. Caramels, salt, orange fruits and rind, and spice are just some of the things I go lot from the nose and palate. Would love more time with a bottle of this over a month or so. #port

Tasted the 1964 vintage in 2015. Notes of orange rind, caramel, dried fig, hint of soy sauce. Light Brick colour with orange hue. This wine is a well integrated delight with elements in harmony. Taylor Fladgate produces this wine from the Quinta de Vargellas estate which is located in the remote upper reaches of the Duoro Valley East of the Duoro Gorge. This vintage wine is stylistically differentiated from it's other family members in various ways including a medium body, hints of prominent orange aromatics and the near absence of red fruit. This wine could be mistaken as an olorosso sherry in its appearance and aromatic profile. Quite a remarkable artistic creation. Hats off to Taylor Fladgate and the patience to see this through. Well done. 50 years in the making.

Stewy, nutty and old...but still fresh and full of life. Amazing. $280

Finally opened this beautiful and this is why I love port. The amber colour seduces you then the smooth velvet palate and long complex mellow finish kept me wanting more.
