Tapiz
Alta Collection Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon
A little tight at first but loosened up with some time in the glass. Would have guessed it was a $50+ bottle from Napa if tasted blind. Delicious.

Additionally I tried this over a four day period, once on the first day with notes, and then on the forth day with notes. I did try it in between just to see how it was changing. Color was a dark and opaque ruby red with purple hues. On day one there were a bunch of savory notes on the nose complemented with a hint of oregano, dark blackberries, dust and chalk. On day four it smelt clean, like alcohol, and fruit forward with heavy black cherries. Both days it was very full bodied and strong tannins (7.5/10) with a lingering finish that felt dry due to the intensity of the tannins. Even after four days it only smoothed out a tad and was still not integrated with the alcohol. This surprised me since it is only 13.9%, not insanely high. Finish is long, lingers and is very harsh. It was an okay wine but probably will not buy again. I don't know if time will help integrate it or if it is just too unbalanced with the alcohol compared to the rest of the wine.

Oct 28th, 2015Cut reeds, and oats, dried moss, apple blossom, big whiff of graphite!! Plummy and peppery, with a red currant streak beneath cinnamon and light cedar. Real terroir in a New World offering with the graphite, and a mineral core that won't quit!

Aug 17th, 2015Not a bad wine, but it has a hard time filling my expectations for a good Cabernet.
