Sutter Home Winery
The Original California White Zinfandel

Sight: Clear, medium pink
Nose: Clean, extremely light hint of raspberry.
Palate: Off-Dry, low acidity, light body. Flavors of raspberry, watermelon, slight floral on finish.
Quick finish.
Quality: Good.
Commentary: Light, low alcohol, easy drinking, laid back fun wine.
I like the “Enjoy” and “Cheers” on the synthetic cork.

Apr 8th, 2016Yep, using this wine in my Intro to Food and Wine class tonight. Every wine, like music, has a place and SH WZ is commendable for saving a LOT of CA heritage zin vineyards. Watermelon, raspberry and cherry in the uber clean nose. The acidity and sweetness are balanced and the mid palate gives tutti-fruity notes as well as some nice oolong tea. My dirty secret is that I love SH WZ with a spicy tuna roll, or anything with a liberal application of sriracha. Why be a hater? I would rather be spotted by fans drinking this than Silver Oak of Rombauer any day! Shows I give less than a fuck what other people think about my drinking preference.

Jan 23rd, 2015Pale salmon in color; strawberries on the nose; medium acidity; tastes like strawberries and maybe watermelon with a medium finish and lots of residual sugar. Better than I expected. Definitely crowd pleasing and easy drinking.
