Only their third commercial vintage from the “Les Robarts” lieu dit in Cramant. Aurélien Suenen choses to ferment this wine in previously used Burgundy barrels and aged in Stockinger foudre for 9 months. This wine spends five years on the lees, exclusively under cork. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2014 “Les Robarts” pours a bright yellow color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of orchard fruit, white flowers, almonds and a pile of minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is creamy. This opened dramatically with air. Disgorged January 2020

Close to perfect. Outstanding wine, a bit of reduction, highly mineral, pear, smooth with small bubbles, long aftertaste, nice pear.

What has always been my favorite cuvée in the Suenen lineup, Les Robarts and 2015 is a perfect match. Aged in a single Tonnellerie Rousseau 20-hl foudre for 10 months before bottling and then 5 years on the lees before disgorgement, it is always so textural, intense and concentrated. There is an impeccable balance of minerality, ripe fruit expression and floral lift with a long saline finish. I also always get a distinct black licorice note in Les Robarts. Excellent.

Super expressive and vibrant. Yellow apple, exotic citrus, chalky minerality, long finish. A pleasure to taste and a bottle that’s a rarity to come by.

Tight bubbles, sharp acidity, hints of brioche and rubber. Balanced out by juicy fruit and with a finish that lasts for days and days. Strong alcohol on opening, so open for at least 20 minutes prior to drinking. Great to pair with food.
