Stonestreet Estate Vineyards
Estate Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
In 1989, Jess Jackson acquired the Zellerbach winery and renamed it in honor of his late father, Jess Stonestreet Jackson. Aged for 19 months on 37% new French oak. Aromas of red/black fruits with citrus, spice and herb mint. On the palate cherry and blackberry flavors, currant, cacao, bell pepper, vanilla and herbs. Fine tannins, still tight, good balance on long finish ending with oak and earthy herb character. Great value, should gain with short term cellaring!

2 people found it helpfulJul 12th, 2020Beautiful ruby in color with a purple rim.
Fruity nose with vanilla, cedar, leather, tobacco, cola, chocolates, eucalyptus, blackberries, sweet cherries, black currants, light vegetables, coffee and peppercorn.
Full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, sage, mocha, cola, dill, bell pepper, earth, chocolates, graphite, herbs, spices and black pepper.
Long finish with hugh, firm tannins and tart cranberries.
This is a big, teeth staining red wine. A very young Cabernet from Alexander Valley. Drinkable now, but really needs 3 years in the bottle to mature properly.
Still not balanced with lots of vanilla, oak and green vegetable flavors. However, it shows a great potential.
A great food wine, but also a good sipping red wine. This one begs for a big juicy steak.
Needs 3 hours to open up in a decanter. Shows good complexity and aging ability.
Robert Parker - 90 points.
Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Nice cab. Cocoa powder dark cherry, underbrush, cedar spice, menthol, soft integrated tannins and balancing acidity. Worked well with a New York strip.
