Spellbound
California Petite Sirah
Dark. (All these spooky wines are pretty dark). Agggh, the vanilla wine barrel is here again. And this is heavy. Extra vanilla. Taste is ok. Berries in a pie. Hint of acids. Ripe fruits and wine barrels. That’s the predominant style here. The spell is CA style wine and oak barrels. It’s not too, too much. Drinkable. But not too great. A compromise red. Like at a wedding without other options....

Jul 5th, 2019Middle of the path for me. I was expecting more of a punch and slightly dryer for this petite sirah. It's pretty mild and has a hint of sweetness. Overall very drinkable and would pair well with many dishes. Also great alone.

Feb 10th, 2019Clear, deep purple with a medium + pronounced nose of blackberry, black cherry, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Medium dry, medium acidity (this is where it’s lacking for me), medium tannins, medium body. Fruity on the plate with some spice. Medium finish.
Definitely not balanced. It’s not bad, but definitely needs decanting or some more acid. I get that they wanted to turn down the tannins but I think they went too far. Flabby almost.
