This is the 2920 Southern Right Walker Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Hamilton Russell Vineyards, Hemel-En-Aarde Valley, Hermanus Cape of Good Hope, South Africa.

On the nose there is beautiful fruit of grapefruit, lime, white peach, honeydew melon, herbaceous notes and minerality.

On the palate there are clean notes of lime, grapefruit, honeydew melon, white peach, cut grass, herbaceous and minerality.

This wine is medium bodied with a racy mouthfeel medium + acidity that pushes through with a long grapefruit musky minerality finish. As another weekend is upon us and we brace ourselves for the coming Christmas week full of love, family and friends. Please have a great weekend and enjoy some nicw wines. Stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂

Pale lemon with aromas of ripe stone and tropical fruits with citrus and floral notes. On the palate fresh fruit flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, and melon with lemon citrus rind wrapped in lively acidity, medium+ length ending with fruit and citrus texture. Nice!

After our Cellar tasting we took some of the tasting room wines and went up to Anthony & Olive’s house for lunch. It was a pleasure to finally meet Olive. She is a; sweetheart, a great host and amazing cook. This was the best meal we had in the trip.

We started off with some freshly baked focaccia bread and this Sauvignon Blanc that again was my favorite on the trip.

It’s pleasant to drink. Beautiful citrus and tropicals, excellent gentle minerality, no grassy notes, green bean or NZ style cat pee. Just great body, structure, fruit, gentle minerality, perfect acidity and nicely polished finish. Nothing out of balance or overdone. For those that say they don’t like Sauvignon Blanc (they’re out there, I’ve met them) this bottling might change your mind.

Photos of; the view from Anthony & Olive’s terrace back onto their property, Anthony & I in deep wine discussion (what a pleasure to get to know and an amazing treasure trove of South African wine knowledge), the view from their dining room looking out to their terrace and one of the vineyards.

A steal for the price. A flinty and fresh Sauvignon blanc that is low on the unfortunate cat piss found elsewhere and high on fresh grapefruit and grass.

Strange dehydrated lemon nose with sandstone backing it up. Very acidic, almost to a fault, with gooseberry and kumquat flavors. A different take on sauvignon blanc that you'd normally find in New Zealand or France, and the difference makes it exciting.

Beautiful floral wine. Slight acidity that is ever so pleasant, great for a summers evening but needs to be extra cold.
