Top Notes For
Sipping Fine Wine

Deep Ruby with ripe dark fruit aromas with spicy notes. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with notes of black pepper and toasty notes. Ok balance, firm tannins, medium finish ending with fruit and spicy notes.

Sierra foothills Barbera is always very interesting. This one is nicely done. At Family Winemakers of California Tasting in Del Mar.

You know what? Paul Sobon has been known for his extensive line-up of Zinfandels for a long time, but I have to say that the BEST wine he makes is his Barbera. For $15, you get a fantastically complex and delicious wine that you will pay $40+ with other wines. I'm not exaggerating. It has some of the true Italian flair, but a new world richness and character of Amador County wines. The nose is full of cocoa, cola spices, wildflower, white pepper, and luxardo cherries - very inviting. The pallet is full throttle and full flavored, exhibiting notes of dark red fruits, fig jam, black pepper, and a viscous, lingering finish. It is comfort wine at its best. I love his Zins, but this should be one of his prized possessions. Limited quantity, so whenever you find it in Total Wine, buy it all!

Exclent winery and excellent varietal. Big jammy fruit forward, medium bodied, silky smooth and medium finish. Mild tannins.

Bright, zippy acidity. Sour Cherry, underripe blackberry. A very nice wine for the price.

Airy, not terribly big. It's got a great price point too. Totally different, I like it though. $14 / 90pts Grape206

Wow! Who knew that a dumpy little town in the Sierra Nevadas, Plymouth, could have search a nice, flavorful celebration of tastebuds! I love it.
