First of the wines at Great Falls Wine Outlet this Friday. Deep garnet red with a little bricking on the edges. A bit dirty on the nose with some earthiness. After a few in the glass it opened up with some black plums as well as some softer black and red fruits. Balanced on the palate with medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Quite fruity on the attack but still dark and some richness. Notes of sweet spices too, especially cinnamon, some aged blue fruits and black cherries. Long and dry finish with solid minerality. Tastes younger than an 05. Drink till 2023.
Made up of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot. Made by Philippe Melka. Selling for $119.99 at The Great Falls Wine Outlet. Inaugural Vintage.

Nov 11th, 2017Skipstone's debut bottling, this wine today is full of pure and transparent blueberries, cinnamon, and cola spice, showing much darker flavors than I'd guess from an Anderson Valley Cabernet, but it has the acid freshness that's a clue to its origin.
