Very non-traditional brunello. Creamy more Bordeaux like than a typical more acidic Sangiovese.

Beautiful Sangiovese, long burn, sweet tannins but also right level of acidity, salinity and minerality. Full bodied, spice, leather, tobacco. Color is very evolved for its young age, would love a bit more clarity, this bottle has a brown hue but tastes 100 pct right, strange. Will be at its peak in 5 to 6 years but tastes great now.

The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne presents an extroverted mix of both red and blue berry fruits, complemented by notes of sweet spice, milk chocolate and plum. On the palate, silky textures play host to ripe red and black fruits, laced with savory herbs, hints of olive, and saline-minerals. The finish is long and structured, resonating on zesty acids and spice, as notes of dried cherry and dark inner florals slowly fade. To be honest, I didn’t expect such a brilliant and balanced showing on the palate, and I believe that once the Vecchie Vigne sheds some of its sweet fruit on the nose, it will show beautifully from start to finish. Way too previous with this, but it’s already showing its pedigree and swagger. Requires another 3 years before taking another look at this. So focused and precise. Wonderful.

Love it. Not as concentrated as expected but very elegant and full of strength.

2011 - Extraordinary wine on so many levels. So aromatically complex with aromas of mentholated cherries, forest floor, mushrooms, vanilla and cedar. Flavor was so rich and distinct.

Loamy, forest floor, soft, slightly candied cherry, hints of vanilla bean. Lingering bitter chocolate on the finish. Very burgundian in nature. Big tannins, big acid. Big wine. Love it.
