Sine Qua Non

Mar 29th, 2021Another brilliant example.
I’m running out of superlatives. We don’t normally drink Grenache, but I’m very happy we did tonight. This is titties! Blueberry tart nose and palate. Underripe tannins give this a powerful structure. Mid-palate is perfect. Somewhat oily texture finishes with polish and great stature.
Thank you Mikey and Rhonda!!!

Just a few bottles from an awesome Open That Bottle Night celebration this past weekend.
This is one of the best SQN Grenache bottles I’ve had. A mind boggling effort in the glass. It has spiced rhubarb, ripe blackberry with stem, hoisin sauce and rich/sweet red fruit on the finish. There was a small note of smoked meat here (which I normally get with their Syrah). Absolutely incredible.

God knows I was proud to open this one and man did it deliver

Sep 9th, 2018SQN Stock & Stein. Rating both the Syrah and Grenache on potential because, quite frankly, both are very tight right now. Both display black fruits, cassis, herbs and pepper. Full bodied, great depth and length. Both were decanted for 5 plus hours. I would suggest waiting a while on both. They should drink well for 10 plus years.

1 person found it helpfulJan 30th, 2017Wow! This is massive! '12 vintage. Juicy, intense and fruit forward. This is delicious now but definitely need more bottle time. Opened and decanted 3 hours before drinking and yet, it was shy. A masterpiece, needs time but already a monster of wine today! Buy it!

1 person found it helpfulMay 19th, 2015Start on spicies, sweet and warm. The nose is quite intriguing and intense, like a splendid old vine Shiraz from barossa or Henschke HOG. This is solid, powerful and perfectly well executed. The mouthfeel is stunning, figs, Werter's toffee and beautiful confit red fruitZ imagine a Christmas pudding with a sticking acidity. Loved every moment of it. #sqn #sinequanon #california #manfredkrankl
